Skin Care Routine on a Plane

We all know how dry and germ-laden the inside of a plane can be. In recent years, the new commercial planes recirulcate about 50% of the cabin air. While the cabin air conditions of the plane have been improving in recent years (yay!), it is believed that still planes have less than 20% humidity. This low level of humidity will cause skin dryness especially on long flights.

One of our Sooni staff, Jasmine, is heading to Hawaii this week so she’s sharing with you what’s she bringing on the plane to combat cabin air dryness. Be sure to follow our Instagram page to follow along on her Hawaii trip and see her travel skin care routine!

As you may know, TSA has a 3-1-1 rule: your carry-on liquids must be 3.4 oz (100 milliliters) or less, fit in a 1 quart-sized clear resealable bag, and only 1 bag is allowed per passenger. Fortunately, I was able to fit all my flight skin care products in one zip-lock bag. Being on the Sooni team has its amazing perks such as trying so many K-beauty products! Most of the products in my carry-on zip-lock bag are from past Sooni Pouches that I’ve been obsessed with.

TSA Approved Skin Care Carry-On

What I packed:

  1. IPKN Honey Facial Mist – January Sooni Pouch
A facial mist is an easy, efficient way to give your skin a boost of hydration when it’s feeling dry.
  2. Etude House Soon Jung 5.5 Relief TonerOctober Sooni Mini Pouch & Sooni Pouch
This trial size will be perfect for my flights!
  3. DewyTree Camellia Extract EmulsionJanuary Sooni Mini Pouch & Sooni Pouch
This emulsion is made with extracts of  Camellia Japonica, which is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and Omega-6 fatty acid. Camellia extracts have become very popular in the skin care industry for its amazing moisturizing abilities.
  4. DewyTree Camellia Extract Facial CreamJanuary Sooni Mini Pouch & Sooni Pouch
I’ve been absolutely loving this facial cream so I knew I had to bring it with me.
  5. TonyMoly Natural Green Hand CreamJanuary Sooni Mini Pouch & Sooni Pouch
My hand can look ashy in the winter and in dry weather which is why I always have a hand cream in my purse wherever I go.
  6. Hand Sanitizer
While I can’t escape from all the bacteria and germs on a plane, I can do little things to help prevent the spreading of germs. Hand sanitizers are your best friend when you don’t have easy access to running water and soap.
  7. Vaseline Lip Balm
You can’t forget to take care of your lips.
  8. Feferafe Ice Cream Mask –  October Sooni Mini Pouch & Sooni Pouch
Since my flight is about 10 hours, I packed myself a face mask in case I feel like I need that extra hydration (which I probably will).
  9. Missha Essence Sun Milk
While airplane windows protect you against UVB radiation, did you know that UVA rays can still reach your skin? That’s why wearing sunscreen even on the plane is important, plus it’s great to reapply when you’re about to land.

As I am planning on wearing no make-up to the airport, I didn’t include any makeup removal wipes. Otherwise, those would be definitely be included in my carry-on bag 🙂 While I’m not a fan of long flights, I’m glad Sooni Pouch will be taking care of my flight skin care.
