5 ways to adjust your skin care routine this summer!
It’s summer and the sun is out! Check out 5 ways you can easily adjust your skin care routine to combat the summer heat and humidity!
Switch to a lighter moisturizer
While the winter time calls for heavy moisturizers and oils to fight dryness, the summer weather is going to be much more humid. This means you can switch to a lighter moisturizer or an emulsion. If you’re not familiar with emulsions, they essentially lighter versions of moisturizers that still moisturize the skin, but also deliver specific ingredients to the skin. For example, the Yedam Yun Bit Prime Luxury Gold Emulsion, included in the June Sooni Pouch, contains soybean phyto placenta extract to help improve skin regeneration and fight anti-aging.
Also, some people even like to forgo moisturizers in the mornings since their sunscreen or other skin care products have already hydrating effects.
Reapply your sunscreen
We all know how important sunscreen is every single day, year round. However, it’s probably true that you’re going to be outside more this summer than you were this past winter. More time in the sun means more exposure to the UVB rays. Take your sunscreen everywhere you go so you can reapply it every 2 hours! Some people have the misconception that an SPF 50 is strong enough to last throughout the day, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. No matter what SPF you’re using, it’s critical that you are reapplying it throughout the day.
Tip: If you’re used to using SPF 30, try increasing to SPF 50 this summer! Remember SPF 15 blocks 93% of UVB rays, SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays, and SPF 45 blocks about 98% of UVB rays. That extra level of protection can be worth it in the long run, especially if your skin is particularly sensitive to the sun.
Take advantage of a facial mist
A facial mist, like the Innisfree Green Tea Mist (included in the June Sooni Mini Pouch and Sooni Pouch), is a great for quickly hydrating the skin and giving you that dewy look. A simple spritz feels so refreshing and cooling in the summer heat! The Innisfree Green Tea Mist can be applied after makeup as well.
Keep a cooling gel around
You’ll want to have a cooling gel with you in the event that you experience sunburn or inflammation. A cooling gel like an aloe vera gel soothes irritated or inflamed skin. Tip: For that extra cooling effect, stick the aloe vera gel in your fridge!
Don’t forget to take care of your hair
The combination of heat, humidity, and sweat can not only irritate your skin but also damage your hair! We recommend that you try to avoid heat styling as much as possible, since your hair is already being heavily exposed to the sun. Another great way to protect your hair is to wear hats, headwraps/headscarves; plus they look so cute!
